Boats & Bikes don’t go along each other very well sometimes. That’s our conclusion after a serie of bad coincidences that made us be now one day behind schedule. We left Villa o’higgins early morning on saturday convinced that after our 2h30 navegation on lake o’higgins we would bike the fun “motor free” area of Candelario Mancilla, Chile to the north shore of Lake Desierto, Argentina where we would take another boat south where we would meet Jaime our van driver that mean while did more than 2000km around by ruta 40. Well, it happens that we did 3h30min (best time so far) to do the 15km climb and 6 km downhill single track, but the second boat did not received comunication that we would arrive and just left… i contacted them by radio and they could not come back because it happened not to have fuel enough to do that… we had to do an unexpected overnight in deep patagonia in a place where only a police border cabin exist. In the end, out of no where, some pasta and a warm cabin was presented to us and everything was part of the adventure. We took the boat today and there he was Jaime expecting for us. The explanation for this episode given by both boat companies (quetru and hielo sur) was that one the terrible storm (that we escaped by close) left everybody, including the army, without comunications… well, never trust in these international border issues, specially in Patagonia where Chileans and Argentineans tend to not go well eachother. Anyway, we had great time taking photos of uncovered Fitz Roy and had the best pasta of our lives…
Next Perito Moreno glacier and tierra del fuego…

added photos of the last days here.
